September Meeting ~ Responsible for what I say and do

How fun! We earned our first petal:
Mari the Marigold~ Responsible for what I say and do.

Here is a link for our Daisies who missed the meeting or would like to hear the story again:
Mari's Story: Keeping a Cupcake Promise

Lots of Smiles! They look so proud of their art!
Time to say the Pledge of Allegiance and then the Girl Scout Promise

Then we heard a story of how Mari the Marigold was responsible. She had promised to make cupcakes for a charity bake sale.
She continued to make cupcakes even though her cousins tried to distract her. She kept her promise and felt proud at the completion of her project.
We talked about how we will be responsible during the meeting; sharing paint with our neighbors, helping to clean up and keep the space tidy.

Then it was time to paint! Each girl had their own canvas with a pre-drawn daisy.

At the beginning of the meeting, we colored a page as we waited for our fellow daisies to arrive.

We used those coloring pages to demonstrate an example of how to be responsible for what we say.  Once a paper is crumpled up, it can never be completely straight and pressed again.  Just like words that are cruel- hurt the person you say them to. Even if an apology is made, the person's feelings have been damaged.

VFW American Flag and Ice Cream Party
All School Scouts are invited to a FREE event to learn about the American Flag and Ice Cream Party.  This will be in the school Cafeteria from 6:15-7:45
There will be a VFW volunteer there that will teach them not only about the flag, but how to form a color guard too.
The evening will end with ice cream fun!

October 11th
Homecoming Parade
Each year the Boys and Girls Scouts walk the parade and toss out candy. This will not be a troop activity.  However, if your daughter is interested in participating, meet at the school parking lot at 5 PM, dressed in their Daisy T-Shirt and be ready to walk

November 9th
Daisy Days! in Pacific.
From 9-12 noon or 1-4 pm
This is a half-day event for GS Daisises, run by Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Daisies learn songs, games, crafts, SWAPS and have tons of GS fun! Only $5 per girl (includes activities, snack and patch).  If there are enough girls interested in doing this one, we can make it a troop activity and use troop funds to cover the cost. (We would need 10 girls for that to happen.) One caveat, both troop leaders are out of town that weekend, so we would love it if several parents stepped up to help supervise this activity in our absence.  Please let us know ASAP if your daughter is interested in going.  There’s additional information on the GSEM website.

January 25th
Fit Is In Neighborhood Event
Junior Troop 573 is hosting the event as part of their Bronze Award.  The cost is $7 per girl and includes a patch, snack, yoga class, zumba class and a performance and clinic by the St. Louis Hula Hoop Team!
Adults do not need to pay for the event.
Registration Deadline November 15th.
Please support this event! Saturday January 25th 1:30- 3:30

September Meeting and Save the Date

Wow, our meeting is already next week!

We look forward to seeing everyone:

 6:30-7:30
Thursday, September 19th
in the ART ROOM at school.

We will meet in the ART ROOM because we have a fun painting project ahead of us.
Therefore, please wear clothes that can take some "washable" paint splatters ;)

This month's petal: Orange - Responsible for what I say and do

We were also asked to share with our GS Daisy families some exciting events!

These are completely optional.
If we have enough responses, enough girls that are interested, we can make these troop events and possibly then cover the cost...  Again, that would depend on the amount of interest shown to attend.

Even if the entire troop does not attend~ any Daisy Girl Scout (and a parent volunteer) can go.

Save the Date:

August~ Ice Cream Social Photos

Welcome to Daisy Girl Scouts

Thank you for a wonderful first meeting!
We have an incredible group of young ladies, and their mothers too!
We accomplished a lot~ Daisy traditions, songs, crafts and getting to know one another.
Thank you again, to our hostess and troop photographer!

Pledge of Allegiance

 Kaper Chart
A kaper is a job or chore that must be done.  Each petal indicates the job available and the butterfly name tags show who is responsible for each job.  The kaper chart is a way of dividing the jobs so that each girl has a part. The jobs will rotate with each meeting.

Girl Scout Promise

Craft Time!

Friendship Circle
The Friendship Circle is often formed at the end of the meetings as a closing ceremony. Everyone gathers in a circle; each girl crosses her right arm over her left and then holds hands with the person on each side of her. Once everyone is silent, one girl starts the friendship squeeze by squeezing the hand of the person to her left. One by one, each girl passes on the squeeze until it travels clockwise around the full circle.
