December Meeting ~ Friendly and Helpful

Twas two weeks before Christmas and all through Autumn V
not a daisy was still, so happy with glee!

The Pledge and the Promise were said with great care,
in hopes that all Daisy Scouts soon will be there.

When out in the hall there arose such a clatter,
I sprang with my binder to see what was the matter.

Away to the window we flew like a flash,
taking photos of our Daisy's Holiday bash.

A neighboring Daisy Troop came despite snow,
and we waited in joy to sing down below.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a room full Daisy Scouts looking like reindeer!

With our scout leaders, so lively and quick,
we knew in a moment we would sing like St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
they were smiling and singing Rudolph's sweet name.

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!

As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down the hall St. Nicholas came with a bound!

The Daisy Scouts earned their Friendly and Helpful patch!
They will receive it at the January 9th Cookie Sales Meeting ~
.... so it will match :)

Last month we made lovely holiday cards with a smile and a whistle,
They were presented to the residents to give JOY at the time of our dismissal.

Dear Troop ~ you will hear more from us... before we drive out of sight.
Merry Holiday Winter Break!
it was a wonderful night !!!

November Meeting ~ Considerate and Caring

We listened to a story about Zinni the Zinna. You can find the story here:  Zinni the Zinna- The Art of Sharing

Then we practiced being caring and considerate by making Holiday Greeting Cards for the residents at the retirement home and for a group of military soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. The girls were required to share all of the art supplies and did an excellent job.  Finally, we practiced a few songs that we will be singing when we deliver the cards next month.

If your daughter was unable to make the meeting, choose 3 of any of the following activities and turn in an "I earned my patch" sheet.
  • Make 2 cards at home for the retirement home residents or the military personnel and bring them to the December meeting.
  • Read the Zinni the Zinna story and discuss it with a parent or adult.
  • Practice using "Please", "Thank You", "Good Morning" and "Good Night" and try doing it without being reminded of it.
  • Help a sick or elderly neighbor/friend/grandparent by visiting them, helping bring their mail in, giving them a call to say hello, etc.
  • Donate a food item to a food pantry or a toy to a toy drive.
  • Help your parents or siblings with one of their chores, without being told to do so.
  • Read a story to a younger sibling or friend
  • Draw a picture of yourself helping someone else. Discuss with an adult what you drew and why.
Look for picture updates from tonight to be posted soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!
